David Moyes dismisses Robin van Persie rumours

David Moyes dismisses claims that Robin van Persie is unhappy at Manchester United.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has rubbished rumours that Robin van Persie is unsettled at Old Trafford by insisting that the Dutch striker is just frustrated by injury.

Reports in Holland recently claimed that the 30-year-old is unhappy with the new management - and in particular his training schedule under the Scottish coach.

However, when questioned on the matter, the 50-year-old told reporters: "That's complete nonsense."

Van Persie was omitted from the matchday squad for the midweek win over Real Sociedad after playing on pain-killing injections to cope with toe and groin problems.

Moyes said that the injury has been bothering him for a while and has revealed that he has a "good chance" of facing Stoke City this afternoon.

"He had a couple of sore toes and I told him before the Southampton game last Saturday that, if I played him in that, he would miss the Sociedad game to try to give his toes and groin a rest," he added.

"In previous games for us, he played with injections in his toes, so we were trying to get away from that and get away from injecting him. He's been bothered by it. He got the other one stood on at Shakhtar Donetsk as well, so his toes have been bothering him for a long time."

Van Persie has scored four goals in seven appearances this season.
