Report: Mauricio Pochettino still on Manchester United radar

A report claims that Mauricio Pochettino is still in the running to replace Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, with the Red Devils planning for the long term.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is still Manchester United's ideal long-term replacement for Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, according to a report.

Mourinho is under contract with the Red Devils until at least 2020 after penning an extension last week, ending claims that he was angling for a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

United chiefs were reportedly concerned by comments made by the Portuguese last year and quickly moved to line up possible replacement options, which included Spurs boss Pochettino.

The Manchester Evening News suggests that, while United are no longer concerned about losing Mourinho for now, they still have an eye on the future and Pochettino is a part of their succession plans.

Real Madrid could pounce before then, however, with a separate report recently suggesting that the 45-year-old is a possible target for the Spanish giants as early as this summer.
