Ed Woodward in talks with Manchester United owners over 'cultural changes'

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward reportedly holds talks with the Glazers over making fundamental 'cultural' changes at the club.

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has reportedly been in talks with the Glazers regarding major 'cultural' changes at the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have made an underwhelming start to the new Premier League season, winning two, drawing two and losing two of their opening six league games to find themselves already 10 points adrift of leaders Liverpool.

United needed penalties to avoid EFL Cup humiliation at home to Rochdale on Wednesday night, raising more questions over the future of Solskjaer following a run of just two wins from their last 11 league outings.

The Norwegian is not thought to be in immediate danger of losing his job, however, with Woodward focusing more on fundamental changes to the structure of the club, according to The Express.

The report claims that both Woodward and the Glazers are keen to rediscover the culture within the club as when Sir Alex Ferguson was manager in an effort to restore their former glories.

One of the elements they deem to be missing are big influences inside the dressing room, causing partly by a string of expensive transfer flops including Alexis Sanchez, Radamel Falcao, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Angel Di Maria.

The United hierarchy are instead keen to focus on long-term solutions to their current problems, as evidenced by their business in the most recent transfer window, although the Glazers expect it to take at least six windows before the club are back on track.
