Aston Villa's John McGinn and Leeds United's Kalvin Phillips are reportedly both on Manchester United's transfer shortlist for the summer window.
The Red Devils are thought to be closing in on the appointment of Erik ten Hag as their new manager, and the Dutchman will be backed with funds ahead of the 2022-23 season.
With Paul Pogba widely expected to leave on a free transfer this summer, improving the midfield is thought to be priority number one for United in the upcoming market.
According to The Telegraph, Ten Hag will use his transfer kitty to try to sign both Phillips and McGinn, with the Red Devils facing an uphill battle to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United.
Phillips is yet to pen an extension on his existing Leeds deal - which expires in 2024 - although the England international is reported to be willing to sign a new long-term contract at Elland Road.
Meanwhile, McGinn's contract at Aston Villa does not expire until 2025, and the Scotland international has scored three goals and set up two more in 27 Premier League appearances this term.
A separate report has claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers' Ruben Neves is also a transfer target of Ten Hag's.
