Leicester City midfielder James Maddison 'becomes Spurs' top target'

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly identify Leicester City midfielder James Maddison as the club's top target to replace Christian Eriksen.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to move for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison if Christian Eriksen leaves the club.

With the Dane showing no signs of penning a new contract, the North London outfit expect the playmaker to sign for another team in January or next summer.

That has left Spurs requiring a long-term replacement for one of their key men, although it appears that they have already set their sights on their preferred target.

According to The Mirror, Spurs are prioritising the addition of Maddison, who could make his debut for England during one of his nation's two upcoming games.

The 22-year-old is already attracting attention from Manchester United, which could potentially lead to a bidding war ahead of the next campaign.

While United allegedly feel that they will be able to sign Maddison for a fee in the region of £60m, Spurs' presence in the race could bump up the price.
