Manchester United are reportedly confident of completing a £50m deal to sign Danny Rose from Tottenham Hotspur in January.
Rose has only recently returned from a long-term knee injury which ended United's interest in him during the summer, but he has struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting lineup since making his comeback.
The 27-year-old has made only two Premier League starts this season and was recently left out of the squad for the North London derby against Arsenal - a decision which he admitted left him "fuming".
Ben Davies's performances in the absence of Rose is understood to have convinced Mauricio Pochettino that he is dispensable, and the Daily Mail reports that United are now confident of completing a £50m move.
United could be forced to wait until next summer to get their man, but Jose Mourinho is known to be in the market for a new left-back, having resorted to playing Ashley Young in that position for the majority of the season so far.
Any arrival for Rose could see either Luke Shaw, Daley Blind or Matteo Darmian leave United, having each failed to impress Mourinho at left-back so far.
