Mario Mandzukic 'could join Manchester United in January'

Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic could join Manchester United in January, according to a report.

Mario Mandzukic could reportedly join Manchester United in the January transfer window.

The Croatia international was linked with a switch to Old Trafford as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who left the Red Devils to complete a move to Inter Milan earlier this month.

Alexis Sanchez, meanwhile, is said to be on the verge of completing a loan switch to Inter, which would further deplete United's options in the final third of the field.

Anthony Martial is said to be an injury doubt for the club's trip to Southampton in the league this weekend, leaving 17-year-old Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford as the team's only options at centre-forward.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Mandzukic has turned down the opportunity to join Paris Saint-Germain in the latter stages of the European transfer window.

Di Marzio claims that the 33-year-old is in no rush to decide his future and could compete a switch to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in January if the English giants present an offer.

The Croatian has scored 44 times in 162 appearances for the Italian champions since a 2015 switch from Atletico Madrid.
