Report: David de Gea's Real Madrid move delayed until 2016 as Iker Casillas stays

David de Gea will reportedly not leave Manchester United for Real Madrid until 2016 as the Spanish club opt to keep Iker Casillas for another season.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will reportedly wait a year before joining Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu for some time, and recent reports have stated that the shot-stopper has already agreed personal terms.

United manager Louis van Gaal also admitted after the team's final home game of the season at Old Trafford last weekend that De Gea has a "chance" of signing for Madrid, but also insisted that the club will not make it "easy" for him to leave.

According to both AS and Marca, De Gea may have to wait until 2016 to return to his homeland as the La Liga club intend to keep current goalkeeper Iker Casillas for another season.

Despite the delay, Madrid reportedly still consider De Gea to be Casillas's long-term replacement.
