Report: Manchester United end pursuit of Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal

Manchester United reportedly end their pursuit of Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal after refusing to meet the £34m asking price.

Manchester United have reportedly given up on trying to sign Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

Conflicting reports regarding the Chile international's future have emerged in the last few days, but the Italian club's director general Giuseppe Marotta insisted on Wednesday that Vidal is not for sale.

According to The Express, United are refusing to meet Juve's £34m asking price and have decided to end their pursuit and focus on other targets.

The publication has claimed that United chiefs are concerned about the 27-year-old's knee injury, which required surgery just before the World Cup in Brazil.

It appears that Vidal will not force through a move to Old Trafford this summer after he was quoted as saying that he is happy to stay in Turin should a transfer fail to materialise.

Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal will hold his first United press conference at 3pm today following his appointment as manager.
