Report: Manchester United back for Everton's Leighton Baines

Manchester United reportedly revive their interest in Everton defender Leighton Baines after admitting defeat in the race to sign Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole next summer.

Manchester United have reportedly revived their interest in Everton left-back Leighton Baines and will make a bid for the 27-year-old next summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have conceded defeat in the race to sign defender Ashley Cole, who will reportedly leave Chelsea for Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

United were keen to sign Baines in the summer but manager Sir Alex Ferguson refused to pay £15m for the England international and signed 23-year-old Alexander Buttner from Vitesse instead.

However, Ferguson is now reportedly keen to recruit Baines and replace Frenchman Patrice Evra in his team with the former Wigan Athletic player.
