Former Leicester City defender Danny Simpson has tipped Harry Maguire to be a huge success at Manchester United if the England international moves to Old Trafford this summer.
United are said to be locked in talks with Leicester over a potential world-record move for the centre-back, who has also been linked with Manchester City ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
Simpson, who played alongside Maguire for the Foxes before being released this summer, has branded the 26-year-old "one of the best defenders" in the game.
"I'm not surprised that [Manchester] United and [Manchester] City are in for him," Simpson told talkSPORT. "For me he's one of the best defenders. He's a top lad and he's only going to get better. He's improving, he's a leader and he can be wherever he wants to be.
"The way he brings the ball out from the back and organises everyone is quality. He wants to go all the way to the top and I think if he does go to one of those two teams, he'll kick on straight away and take it in his stride."
United will reportedly have to come up with a bid between £80m and £90m if they wish to sign the former Sheffield United youngster in this summer's transfer window.
However, speaking after Leicester's 1-0 win over Scunthorpe United on Tuesday - of which Maguire played 45 minutes - Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers said that the club's valuation had not yet been met.
