Manchester United caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly tells the club's board that he wants to keep Angel Gomes in his first-team squad.

Manchester United caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly blocked plans to loan out Angel Gomes during the January transfer window.

Gomes has long been tipped to make an impact in the first team at Old Trafford, but prior to Jose Mourinho's sacking, the 18-year-old had only made two substitute outings.

United are allegedly prepared to send the teenager out on loan, but according to the Manchester Evening News, Solskjaer has a different idea.

The report claims that Solskjaer intends to use Gomes in the senior ranks until the end of the campaign, and the youngster could make an appearance against Reading in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Gomes has already been used since Solskjaer's return to United, with the prospect featuring for the final nine minutes of the 3-1 win against Huddersfield Town over the Christmas period.
