Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will reportedly spend more money on players this summer than any previous Manchester United manager has managed in a single transfer window before.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will reportedly be given more than £200m to spend on new players this summer in order to turn Manchester United into Premier League title contenders.

The Red Devils boss admitted earlier this week that a lot of work has to be done if his side are to make up the gulf in quality on top-two sides Liverpool and Manchester City in the space of one transfer window.

United have struggled for form since Solskjaer's appointment was made permanent last month, and even Saturday's 2-1 win over West Ham United further emphasised the task on the Norwegian's hands.

According to The Express, Solskjaer is primed to splash the cash ahead of next season as executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will back him with more money than any United manager has previously spent in a single window.

The report suggests that a number of players are being monitored ahead of a huge summer of activity, with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho still considered a prime target.

Sancho alone is expected to cost a nine-figure sum, while West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is another name mentioned as Solskjaer apparently wants to build a British core to his side.
