Barcelona manager Xavi was reportedly part of a delegation from the club to fly out for talks with Erling Braut Haaland in Germany earlier this week.
Haaland's future is set to dominate the summer transfer window with a who's who of Europe's biggest clubs interested in signing the Borussia Dortmund striker.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are among those to have been linked with the Norway international, while Dortmund have already confirmed the interest of Real Madrid.
Barcelona are hopeful of stealing a march on their rivals, though, and Spanish outlet L'Esportiu reports that club officials, including Xavi, met with Haaland and his representatives in Munich this week.
The 21-year-old has a £63m release clause in his contract at Dortmund which will be become active when the summer transfer window opens.
Dortmund remain hopeful of keeping Haaland, but the player himself has previously spoken of his desire to play in La Liga.
Haaland has scored 80 goals in just 79 games since joining the German outfit, including 23 goals in 20 outings this season.
