Scott Malone escapes serious injury

Millwall defender Scott Malone did not suffer knee ligament damage in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Millwall physio Bobby Bacic has revealed that defender Scott Malone has escaped a serious knee injury.

The 22-year-old picked up the injury in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Burnley, where it had initially been thought that the left-back had suffered ligament damage.

However, scans have shown that no serious damage occurred during the early stages of the Championship encounter.

"Initial scan results on Scott have indicated that he has suffered no knee ligament or cartilage damage," Bacic told the club's official website.

"Due to the early stage of the injury it would be premature to give a predicted return to play, especially as we also want to double check the ankle as well. We are, however, pleased with the results so far."

Millwall currently sit 18th in the Championship.
