Newcastle United's Massadio Haidara out for four months with knee injury

Newcastle United left-back Massadio Haidara is expected to be out of action for four months as he is due to undergo ankle surgery.

Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren has revealed that left-back Massadio Haidara is expected to be out of action for four months due to knee surgery.

The 22-year-old Frenchman will undergo an operation next week after damaging knee ligaments in an "accident" during a training session earlier this week.

"Massadio had an accident in midweek," McClaren told reporters. "It's his knee, and he's having an operation in France next week."

Haidara had only just returned to action following a groin injury.
