FA to "investigate" Alan Pardew headbutt

The chairman of the English FA, Greg Dyke, says that Alan Pardew's headbutt on David Meyler during Newcastle United's match against Hull City will be investigated.

FA chairman Greg Dyke has said that English football's governing body will "investigate" Alan Pardew for headbutting David Meyler on Saturday.

The Newcastle United manager clashed with the Hull City midfielder during his side's 4-1 victory at the KC Stadium in the Premier League.

"Clearly it looks serious and we will investigate it, but I can't really say anything else at this stage," Dyke told Sky Sports News.

Newcastle have issued 52-year-old Pardew with a formal warning and a fine of £100,000 for what they deem to be "unacceptable" behaviour.
