Papiss Cisse: 'We need to bounce back'

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse feels that it is imperative his side bounce back from their derby defeat to Sunderland.

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse feels that it is vital his side bounce back from their derby defeat to Sunderland to secure their Premier League status.

The Magpies succumbed to a 3-0 home defeat to the Black Cats last week and now find themselves dragged back into the relegation battle.

Cisse told The Mirror: "We know we are not safe yet and we are taking nothing for granted. We know what we have to do. Get safe – and we are going to do it.

"We lost a game we cannot afford to lose. The damage is done.

"It is down to us to repair it and stop people talking about it. It is time to push the team forward, everyone together, players and fans."

Alan Pardew's side face West Bromwich Albion later today.
