Andy Carroll has reportedly been offered a deal to return to Newcastle United on a pay-as-you-play basis.
The West Ham Untied striker, whose wages are said to be £4m per year, has featured just 46 times in three years for the London club.
For a return to his boyhood club to happen, The Mirror claims that Carroll will have to accept a pay-as-you-play contract after suffering ankle, heel, hamstring and knee problems with the Hammers.
Carroll is believed to be just one of Steve McClaren's targets, after the former England manager was confirmed as Newcastle boss on Wednesday.
Newcastle are also rumoured to be interested in Charlie Austin and Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost.
