Newcastle United remain locked in talks with Crystal Palace over the summer signing of former winger Andros Townsend, according to a report.
The 26-year-old was a regular for the Eagles in the Premier League last season, starting 35 of their 38 games and playing a direct part in nine goals.
Newcastle recently made contact with their top-flight rivals to determine whether the 13-cap England international is available to purchase, though, and The Sun suggests that the Toon are close to pushing a deal through.
Palace are said to be willing to cash in as they intend to strengthen other areas of the field, with an £18m offer - £5m more than the Eagles paid to land the attacker two years ago - likely to be enough.
Funds for the transfer will be provided through the sale of Matt Ritchie, who is understood to be close to a £15m switch to second-tier Stoke City.
