Robbie Willmott to miss start of season

Newport County boss Justin Edinburgh hopes that Robbie Willmott will recover quickly from a shoulder injury.

Newport County midfielder Robbie Willmott is expected to miss the start of the League Two season with a shoulder injury.

The 23-year-old, who suffered the knock in a pre-season clash with Reading, could be out of action for up to four weeks.

"I'm disappointed for Robbie because he'd come back, looked focused and looking the real deal," Newport boss Justin Edinburgh told the club's official website.

"I'm disappointed for him but I've seen him and he seems to think it has settled down quite dramatically over the last 24 hours. He seems a little more buoyant.

"He sees the specialist on Monday morning, who will give his opinion and hopefully we won't lose him for too long."

Newport open their league campaign against Accrington Stanley next weekend.
