Michel Platini reiterates call for change to "stupid rule"

Michel Platini reiterates that he wants to change the "stupid rule" which sees a player face a 'triple punishment' following a dismissal.

UEFA president Michel Platini has reiterated his call for a change to be made to the "stupid rule" which sees a player face a 'triple punishment' following a dismissal.

Platini has argued in favour of dropping the current rule in place which consists of a penalty being awarded and a suspension handed out following a red card offence.

"For 15 years we have been trying to change this rule," the 58-year-old is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"All the technical committees of UEFA and FIFA are against this but when it has gone to the International Board (IFAB) it doesn't change. I am against it, and I want it to be changed."

The IFAB requires a 75% majority vote for a law to be changed.
