Norwich City chief executive David McNally reveals that the club are looking for a manager with top level experience.

Norwich City chief executive David McNally has revealed that the club are hoping to appoint an experienced manager.

The Canaries are searching for a new boss after Paul Lambert made the decision to take over at Aston Villa at the weekend.

While numerous candidates have been linked with the Carrow Road vacancy, McNally has admitted that Norwich are eager to hire somebody with experience at the highest level.

"When we appointed Paul Lambert he was the right appointment because we were in League One and he had the relevant experience. Our position has changed fundamentally," said McNally. "Norwich City are playing in the Premier League and whoever we appoint will be somebody with experience of management at the top level.

"The successful candidate does not necessarily need to have Premier League experience. If there is somebody who has managed successfully in Serie A, La Liga or Bundesliga then we would certainly consider their application. After all, they are some of the toughest leagues in the world.

"Why should we say no to somebody of that calibre just because they have not managed in the Premier League?"

Lambert had been in charge of the club for three years.
