Leyton Orient dumped holders Peterborough United out of the Football League Trophy, while AFC Wimbledon secured their passage to the second round with a dramatic shootout victory over Southend United this evening.
Chris Dagnall scored twice as reigning champions Peterborough fell at the first hurdle in a feisty encounter at London Road.
The Orient hitman opened the scoring after four minutes, but Marcus Maddison hit back for the hosts on 15 minutes as the sides went in level at the break.
Dagnall started the second half with similar success, securing his double just two minutes after the restart before Bradley Pritchard added a degree of comfort to the scoreline shortly after the hour mark.
However, Romain Vincelot was sent off after picking up two yellow cards in as many minutes to reinvigorate Posh in their comeback quest.
Luke James did make it a nervy last few minutes for the Londoners, but Russell Slade's troops held on to eliminate the holders.

Nevertheless, Adam Barrett pounced with an 88th-minute equaliser as the Dons forced penalties, before emerging from the shootout as 4-2 winners to seal their progression.
Last season's beaten finalists Chesterfield, meanwhile, went down 2-0 to Scunthorpe United.
First-half strikes from Sean McAllister and Gary McSheffrey proved enough for United to progress into the next stage.

It was going to plan when Gareth Evans fired the hosts into a 12th-minute lead, but Padraig Amond struck just before the half-hour mark to level matters.
Six minutes later Jack Redshaw bagged Morecambe's second, before Amond made sure of the win on 80 minutes to help Jim Bentley's side advance.
