Half-Time Report: Thiago Motta strikes just before interval to give Paris Saint-Germain lead

Paris Saint-Germain take a 1-0 half-time lead over Lorient at Stade du Moustoir, but see their opening 45 minutes blighted by an injury to defender Thiago Silva.

Thiago Motta scored four minutes before the break to give Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain a 1-0 half-time advantage over Lorient tonight.

However, Chelsea's Champions League quarter-final opponents saw their opening 45 minutes blighted by an injury to influential centre-back Thiago Silva.

Lorient were the quicker out of the blocks and had two early shots as Vincent Aboubakar dragged wide from 12 yards, before Yann Jouffre tested Salvatore Sirigu with a 20-yard drive.

Silva was replaced by Alex on the half-hour mark after failing to recover from a niggle, but PSG soon settled and equalised with the last of four chances within the space of five minutes.

After Edinson Cavani had missed a close-range header, and both he and Zlatan Ibrahimovic had been denied by Lorient keeper Fabien Audard, Motta opened the scoring with a 41st-minute tap-in.

PSG can extend their lead over second-placed Monaco to 12 points with victory at Stade du Moustoir.
