Queens Park Rangers too strong for Yeovil Town

Queens Park Rangers see off Yeovil Town 3-0 at Loftus Road to get their automatic promotion chase back on track in the Championship.

Queens Park Rangers have got their automatic promotion hunt back on track courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Yeovil Town at Loftus Road.

The first opportunity of the match fell to the visitors, as Luke Ayling curled an effort narrowly wide of the upright with Robert Green left rooted to the spot.

QPR grew into the contest more as it progressed, and it showed on 25 minutes when Ravel Morrison struck home from the edge of the box to give his side the lead.

Yeovil had a shout for a penalty turned down before half time as Joe Edwards went down under pressure from Nedum Onuhoha, but the referee saw nothing wrong with the challenge.

The home side upped the pressure in search of a second goal, and if not for a fine save from Marek Stech, Niko Kranjcar would have have doubled their advantage with his attempt.

The missed chances almost proved costly for Harry Redknapp's side as Tom Lawrence curled the ball past Green, only for his effort to come back off the post.

Despite the scare, QPR regrouped and found the all important second goal of the afternoon through substitute Bobby Zamora, who headed home at the back post following a Junior Hoilett cross.

The third followed in added time as Morrison was played through on goal by Kranjcar, with the Englishman tucking the ball away to round off the scoring.
