Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has said that he takes responsibility for his side's humbling exit to Progress Niederkorn in the first qualifying round of the Europa League.
The Scottish giants had held a 1-0 advantage after the first leg at Ibrox but on Tuesday night, they suffered a 2-0 defeat to a club who finished in fourth place in Luxembourg's top flight last season.
Rangers face a backlash from their supporters after arguably the worst result in their recent history, but Caixinha has claimed that it was a "once-in-a-lifetime" occurrence.
The 46-year-old told Rangers TV: "We need to apologise to our fans because they gave us support and loyalty, they don't deserve this. I assume all the responsibility.
"We could not do what we were here to do - win the game. It's something that happens once in a lifetime - it happens to us today.
"For the second goal we knew we could not commit unnecessary fouls and we did, but as I said, I assume all the responsibility and the disappointment."
Rangers had been hoping to reach the main stages of a European competition for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign.
