Rafael Benitez confirms Napoli exit amid Real Madrid speculation

Rafael Benitez confirms that he will leave Napoli at the end of the season.

Rafael Benitez has confirmed that he will leave Napoli at the end of the season.

Speaking at a press conference alongside club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, the former Chelsea and Liverpool manager announced his departure from the Italian club.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with the vacant managerial post at Real Madrid, after Carlo Ancelotti was sacked earlier this week.

Benitez told reporters: "I would like to thank the president, the club and all the fans because after two years I'm finishing my experience here with Napoli.

"On Sunday we are facing a very important match and I want to conclude my two years here with a victory.

"It's always sad to leave a job where the people have treated you well from the start and Napoli was like this to me."

Benitez took charge of Napoli in 2013.
