Kevin Doyle has revealed that Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni wants to repeat the success of Greece at Euro 2012.
Ireland find themselves in a similar underdog position that Greece occupied during Euro 2004 in Portugal, before going on to shock everyone and win the tournament. Doyle admitted that the team are constantly being reminded of that feat by the boss.
"If you are in it, you have a chance. I don't think it's madness," said Doyle.
"The manager has used the example plenty of times of Greece. But the toughest part really is getting out of our group because it's so difficult.
"But it shows whenever we play the big teams, we compete and do well in these tournaments."
The Irish find themselves in Group C alongside holders Spain, four-time World Cup winners Italy and Croatia.
