Barry Bannan seeking regular football at Sheffield Wednesday

Barry Bannan looks for regular football after signing for Sheffield Wednesday from Crystal Palace.

Barry Bannan has revealed that the prospect of playing regular first-team football was the main motivation behind his move to Sheffield Wednesday.

Bannan, 25, joined Wednesday from Crystal Palace on a one-year deal on the last day of the transfer window.

"I want to play football on a regular basis and this is where I want to do it," the Scottish international told Wednesday's official website. "Wednesday is a massive club and I had no hesitation in joining.

"There was interest from other clubs but there is something about this one. The new owner is clearly ambitious and it was important for me to hear from the manager that he likes to play football the right way, which suits my game perfectly.

"There are not too many clubs in the Championship with the real potential to get to the highest level and stay there but Sheffield Wednesday certainly tick the boxes."

Bannan was not called up to Scotland's most recent squad for Euro 2016 qualifying matches against Georgia and Germany.
