Ronald Koeman delighted with win over Tottenham Hotspur

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman heaps praise on his side following their 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has heaped praise on his side after their 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.

The Saints came from behind to win at White Hart Lane as two goals from Steven Davis saw them equal their best-ever Premier League points tally of 60, set last season under Koeman.

Victory over Crystal Palace in their final game of the campaign next weekend would see them set a new record and also boost their chances of qualifying for the Europa League next season - a target Koeman is eager to achieve.

"Tottenham had a better start in the game but we fought back, and in the second half we deserved at least to score one. It's a great win for us, because to win here against Tottenham, one of the best teams in the league, is a big result," he told reporters.

"Overall that was a very good, strong performance. If we can win next week at home we'll have 63 points - a really fantastic achievement by the team. We like to play in Europe, and it's important for the club and the players. We know about Thursdays in Europe and Sundays in the Premier League.

"It's never too late in a season to score goals, and Davis had a massive game today. His productivity made the difference."

The result means that Koeman has now overseen a win against every other Premier League team during his time in charge of the Saints.
