Ronald Koeman to speak to Victor Wanyama about discipline

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman reveals plans to speak to Victor Wanyama regarding his discipline after the midfielder was sent off for the third time this season.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has revealed that he will speak to Victor Wanyama regarding his discipline following his red card against West Ham United this afternoon.

The Kenyan midfielder was dismissed for the third time this season in the second half of his side's match against the Hammers after scything down Dimitri Payet.

Koeman had no complaints at the referee's decision to show the red card, although he suggested that Mark Clattenburg's position may have made it look worse than it was.

"From the referee's position it's a red card. I was in front of it, and maybe it was harsh, but from his position maybe the tackle looked harder," Koeman told reporters.

"But it was a hard tackle and it gives the referee the possibility to give a red card.

"It's not his first red card, it's his third, and that's not good. You have to learn from your mistakes so I will speak to him about it."

Despite having to play the vast majority of the second half with 10 men, Southampton held out for a 1-0 win courtesy of Maya Yoshida's early opener.
