Southampton are reportedly poised to smash their transfer record for a second successive year by agreeing a £15m deal with Roma for Pablo Daniel Osvaldo.
The Italy international is thought to have been deemed surplus to requirements by the capital club, as Corriere dello Sport claims that the Saints have agreed a club-record fee with the Giallorossi and are ready to offer the player a four-year deal worth in excess of £2m per season.
However, it remains unclear if the personal terms on offer would be sufficient in luring the Argentina-born forward to St Mary's Stadium this month.
Should such a move materialise, the 27-year-old would become Southampton's most expensive ever signing, following the acquisition of Gaston Ramirez for a reported £12m last summer.
Osvaldo, whose current deal expires in 2016, netted 16 times in 29 league appearances for the capital club last term.
