Half-Time Report: Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton & Hove Albion goalless at the break

Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion are playing out a goalless draw in their League Cup clash at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur have dominated the first half of their League Cup clash against Brighton & Hove Albion this evening, but the scoreline remains 0-0 at the break.

Spurs controlled the early stages of the game at White Hart Lane, with Andros Townsend marauding into the net just six minutes in following a smart one-two with Aaron Lennon, but the visitors' defence was steadfast in the face of the attack.

Around the quarter-hour mark, Harry Kane appealed for a penalty following contact with Inigo Calderon, but this was turned down.

In the face of the hosts piling men forward, the Seagulls were able to create a chance in the 20th minute when Kazenga LuaLua, pushed wide after allowing the ball to bounce one too many times in the box, failed to hit the target.

Midway through the second half, it was Brighton's turn to appeal for a penalty after Kyle Naughton appeared to handle the ball in the box following a free kick, but again the referee waved away the requests.

Christian Walton, the away side's 18-year-old goalkeeper, then did well to keep out a fierce Roberto Soldado shot towards the end of the half, before Kane fired over the bar.
