Mabbutt: 'Spurs can cope without Bale, Lennon'

Gary Mabbutt says that Tottenham Hotspur can cope without Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon.

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Gary Mabbutt believes that Andre Villas-Boas's men will be able to cope with the absence of Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon.

The attacking duo both suffered injuries during the midweek Europa League clash with Basel and will spend a few weeks on the sidelines while the North London outfit chase a top-four finish.

However, Mabbutt believes that his former team have strength in depth and does not think this setback will derail their season.

"Fortunately, Tottenham have got a very strong squad together and they have a great attitude," Mabbutt told talkSPORT. "I think we have enough strength to come through this.

"We've got strong players in the squad, a lot of players that have a lot of experience. Of course, pace is the key in a lot of games, certainly when you've got players like Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon.

"That's an area where we've really attacked teams and caused teams problems throughout the season, but I think we've got enough players now, and they've all got some first team experience because the manager has rotated the team."

Spurs are currently third in the Premier League.
