Steven Pienaar admits that it was a "hard decision" to leave Everton but insists that he has 'no regrets' over joining Tottenham.

Steven Pienaar has admitted that he has no doubts over leaving Everton for Tottenham Hotspur, despite failing to cement a spot in Harry Redknapp's starting lineup.

The winger, who moved to White Hart Lane earlier this year, has revealed that it was difficult to leave Merseyside but believes that he can be successful at Spurs.

"Regrets? No, not at all," Pienaar told The Independent. "It has been a year of mixed feelings, and yes it has been a bumpy road, but hopefully I can make it a success.

"It has been a very hard decision to make. It was hard to leave Everton as a club and Liverpool as a city. The people I had around me, the players, most of the supporters were very good to me, and I will always be grateful to them.

"It was hard to go, but in life you have to make decisions. I made this one as a footballer and as a human being, and I don't have any regrets about what I chose to do. Not at all."

The 29-year-old recently revealed his depression at not being a prominent member of the Tottenham team.
