Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly contemplating a £30m end-of-season move for Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler.
The Lilywhites have gone 12 months since adding to their squad and appear unlikely to get any deals over the line in the remaining two days of the January window.
Spurs were keen to bring in Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint-Germain in a £20m deal this month, but the French midfielder is believed to have turned down the chance to discuss a transfer, preferring to instead link up with Liverpool.
ESPN suggests that plans are now in place for the summer, with Spain Under-21s international Soler being regularly watched by Tottenham scouts of late.
Soler has netted two goals in 28 matches this term, including a volley in Valencia's 2-1 win over Manchester United in December, and he also boasts six assists.
PSG are also rumoured to be monitoring the 22-year-old, but Spurs are the frontrunners as they can offer him more regular first-team football.
Used predominantly as a right-sided midfielder, Soler can also operate in central and defensive midfield.
