Stoke line up Shaun Wright-Phillips bid

Stoke will match Manchester City's £2m asking price for winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Stoke are thought to be planning a £2m move for Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The 28-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements at Eastlands by manager Roberto Mancini and Stoke are ready to offer the winger a way out, according to The Mirror.

Bolton are also thought to be interested in the player but Stoke hold the advantage as they can reportedly offer the former England international a better contract.

Wright-Phillips would compete with Matthew Etherington and Jermaine Pennant for a place on the wing at Stoke as they continue to strengthen their squad.

Tony Pulis signed Matthew Upson on Tuesday and are also discussing terms with Wilson Palacios ahead of a possible £10m move from Tottenham.

Spurs' Peter Crouch is also believed to be a target as Pulis prepares his side for the upcoming Premier League and Europa League campaigns.
