Mark Hughes praises Wilfried Bony, Joe Allen after win over Swansea City

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes praises Wilfried Bony and Joe Allen after they combine to help the Potters beat former club Swansea City in the Premier League.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has claimed that it was "written in the stars" that Wilfried Bony would open his Potters account against former club Swansea City.

Before Monday's game at the Britannia Stadium, Bony had gone 535 minutes without a goal since making a loan switch from Manchester City but he netted twice as Stoke registered a 3-1 victory over the Welsh side, who he played for when he first arrived in English football in 2013.

Hughes has also praised midfielder Joe Allen - who has also previously represented Swansea - after he played a part in both of Bony's goals.

The 53-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "Wilfried Bony - it was always likely to happen. It was written in the stars and it happens so often. He and Joe Allen have been excellent since they came here.

"Joe Allen is an outstanding footballer. He has that knack of anticipating where the ball is going to land and that is why I have pushed him further forwards."

Stoke now sit in 12th position in the table after recording their third successive win in the top flight.
