Danny Higginbotham wants Ipswich Town stay

Stoke City defender Danny Higginbotham eyes a long-term stay at Ipswich Town.

Stoke City defender Danny Higginbotham has insisted that he wants to extend his stay with Ipswich Town.

The 33-year-old agreed a move to the Championship club until October 23, but the former Manchester United defender has expressed a desire for a longer stint.

"We have to see how things go but if the opportunity was there to extend the loan then I'd definitely look at it," he told the club's official website.

"The most important thing for me is to play games and Ipswich have given me the chance to do that. Being left out of the 25-man squad by Stoke made the decision to go out on loan easier because I'm not really a player who wants to sit around and pick up my wages.

"I spoke to Jon Walters and Danny Collins, who have obviously both played here and they spoke highly of the club and I'm delighted to be here."

Higginbotham made just five appearances for Stoke last season.
