Martin O'Neill: 'No bids for Matthew Kilgallon'

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill denies that Black Cats defender Matthew Kilgallon will join Blackburn Rovers.

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill has denied claims that the club have received an offer from Blackburn Rovers for Matthew Kilgallon.

The 28-year-old defender has found his opportunities limited since moving to Sunderland in 2010, and it has been reported that he could depart the club.

However, O'Neill told the Sunderland Echo: "I genuinely have not heard anything about Matt Kilgallon going to Blackburn. That story is complete news to me!"

"At the moment we are looking to bring players in and that's what we are working on. We have targeted a few players and we are in the throes of that at the moment. But as things stand, there's nothing new to report in that direction."

Kilgallon made just eight appearances for the club last season.
