Rodrigo targeting Champions League

Valencia's on-loan forward Rodrigo says that Los Che are targeting a top-four finish in La Liga this season.

Rodrigo has insisted that Valencia are targeting a top-four finish in La Liga rather than the title this season.

Los Che finished eighth last term, but have started this season in fine form, with 17 points from seven games leaving them second.

Valencia boss Nuno said on Tuesday that the club were targeting a Champions League spot and that has now been echoed by Rodrigo, who is currently on loan at Valencia from Benfica.

"It is exaggerated to talk of winning the title and we should make things clear. In the dressing room the aim is to qualify for the Champions League," the Spaniard told reporters.

"Football is about passion but people have to realise that we will not be fighting for the League this season.

"We've started well and Valencia is a big club, so the fans are more hopeful and beginning to realise we have a good team."

Valencia return to league action against Deportivo La Coruna this weekend.
