Aston Villa and Valencia are in a transfer tug-of-war to sign Dutch star Bas Dost.
The 22-year-old Heerenveen striker is the top goalscorer in Holland's Eredivisie with 22 goals in 26 appearances this season.
Alex McLeish, who has hinted that he intends to spend significant money in the summer, faces stiff competition from Valencia, according to The Mirror.
The Spanish side's interest may depend on whether or not they are able to hang on to Roberto Soldado, who has reportedly attracted the interest of Chelsea and Arsenal.
Dost is thought to be available for around £5m.
