Alex McLeish, who has hinted that he intends to spend significant money in the summer, faces stiff competition from Valencia, according to The Mirror.
The Spanish side's interest may depend on whether or not they are able to hang on to Roberto Soldado, who has reportedly attracted the interest of Chelsea and Arsenal.
Dost is thought to be available for around £5m.
