A report claims that Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey have been contacted by the Football Association of Wales for their thoughts on who should become Wales's next manager.

Gareth Bale has reportedly informed Wales chiefs that Craig Bellamy is his preferred choice to succeed Chris Coleman as manager of the national side.

Bellamy is one of four contenders for the job, along with Ryan Giggs, Osian Roberts and surprise candidate Mark Bowen, who stepped down from his Stoke City coaching role earlier this month.

Manchester United legend Giggs is the clear favourite to land the position, which became vacant in November when Coleman opted against signing a new contract.

According to the Daily Mail, however, Real Madrid forward Bale would prefer another of his former teammates in Bellamy - currently a part of Cardiff City's coaching setup - to get the job.

The report claims that Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has also been contacted by the Football Association of Wales for his thoughts, with an appointment expected to be made early next week.
