West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis has revealed that some of his players have lost nearly a stone after struggling with the heat during their pre-season tour of the United States.
Callum McManaman got on the scoresheet, but the Baggies eventually suffered a 3-1 defeat to MLS side Orlando City at the Citrus Bowl.
The match was only West Brom's second of their pre-season schedule, but Pulis has claimed that the 28C heat has taken a toll on his men.
"For us it was the second week of pre-season, so to play against a team on astroturf in that heat was tough," the Express & Star quotes Pulis as saying.
"It's a good workout for the lads and they are absolutely shattered in there. The doctor has taken their weight and some of them have lost nearly a stone, so they have really worked hard. The most important thing is that we didn't get any injuries."
West Brom will begin their Premier League campaign on August 10 against Manchester City at The Hawthorns.
