The Hammers got off to a rapid start as Manuel Lanzini raced into the Palace half before cutting the ball back to Dimitri Payet, who could only direct his shot to the right side of the goal.
Slaven Bilic's side continued to pressure and probe the Eagles' defence and were rewarded for their efforts on the 20-minute mark, when Victor Moses played a pinpoint through-ball to right-back Jenkinson, who managed to squeeze his shot under goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey to make it 1-0 to the visitors.
However, West Ham's lead lasted only three minutes after Dwight Gayle was brought down in the box to give his side a penalty and a chance to equalise.
Cabaye scored the equaliser on the second time of asking, after the Frenchman had to retake the successful spot kick due to Gayle encroaching .
Despite Gayle's positive contributions for Alan Pardew's side, the attacker picked up a second yellow shortly before the half-time whistle, seeing Palace go down to 10 men for the remaining 45 minutes.
