Wigan Athletic are preparing to offer Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega a new contract at the DW Stadium.
The 26-year-old's current deal expires at the end of the season and he has recently been linked with a free transfer to Italian side Juventus.
However, Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is desperate to keep hold of his centre-forward.
"I wouldn't like to lose Hugo," said Martinez. "The reality is he had a little bit of a stop start season and niggles.
"It is important everyone is fully focused to win games for Wigan and I would love to keep Hugo for the longer-term."
Rodallega, who joined Wigan in 2008 from Necaxa, has yet to find the net season.
