Wigan Athletic, Burnley finish goalless

Wigan Athletic and Burnley play out a goalless draw in the Championship.

Wigan Athletic have played out a goalless draw with Burnley at the DW Stadium in the Championship.

The hosts had the lion's share of possession early on, as Nick Powell had a long-range effort go over the bar.

Keith Treacy fired one back for the visitors, but his effort was comfortably saved by Ali Al-Habsi in the Wigan goal.

David Jones came closest right at the death of the first half, but his effort struck the crossbar and the Latics managed to scramble it clear.

Michael Kightly had a good effort as the game lurched towards its end, but he could only shoot wide after beating two men in the build-up.
