Chinese billionaire to buy Wolverhampton Wanderers?

Chinese billionaire Ding Lei is reportedly a contender to purchase Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Chinese billionaire Ding Lei has emerged as a frontrunner to buy Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to the Express & Star.

In a shock move, Wolves owner Steve Morgan put the club up for sale in September after eight years at the helm.

Around 30 or 40 expressions of interest from parties "around the globe" have since been made, with CEO Jez Moxey whittling the number down to just 10.

Ding, 44, is the 10th richest man in China with an estimated fortune of more than £5bn, earned from his internet technology firm NetEase.

Other contenders include an American consortium headed by former players Robbie Keane and Kevin Muscat, as well as property entrepreneur siblings David and Simon Reuben.

Wolves are currently 16th in the Championship, nine points from the playoff places.
