Australia scrum-half Will Genia has admitted that he was "amazed" by Scotland's performance during this afternoon's Rugby World Cup quarter-final at Twickenham.
The Wallabies were clear favourites to reach the last four of the competition, but Vern Cotter's side pushed them all the way and eventually missed out by just one point courtesy of Bernard Foley's penalty at the death.
The result ensures that there will be no Northern Hemisphere team in the semi-finals of a World Cup for the first time ever, but Genia had nothing but praise for Scotland's display.
"They played so, so well. I was amazed by the way they used the ball and how fit they were getting around the field," he told Sports Mole.
"They obviously came in with a plan to put the high balls onto the guys at the back which worked. They got the bounce of the ball on occasions but they played so well.
"They are a fit team and a fast team that look to use the ball, and they played very well."
Australia will now face Argentina in the semi-finals of the World Cup next weekend.
